Foxtail Coffee

PROGRAM  COFFEE SHOP

SIZE  1,355 sf

LOCATION Winter Park, Florida

DESIGN

The modern coffee shop promotes a carefully curated experience: the production process is exposed, the drinks are hand-crafted with internationally-sourced organic coffee, and areas of consumption are individually articulated. Both wholesale and retail operations are contained within the same space. This interior design required a comprehensive and interconnected methodology to enhance the brand identity and choreograph multiple connective “touch points”  between the company and the customer. The post-industrial design positively supported the client’s engagement goals and environmentally-aware, ethical business model by highlighting product and process. Materials focus on sensory  textures and incorporate elements of sustainability and upcycling: perforated mushroom-wood planks are installed  along the front of the barista counter and along the walls; display shelves are made of exposed steel pipe and salvaged  wood; panels of flame-treated wood (scorched and sealed) create the backing for custom-designed, cantilevered  seating that merges with the display shelving. Customers can define their own spatial relationships, whether privately seated alone or collectively gathered together in small corner areas. A highlight of the shop is the glass-enclosed  Roasting Room, featuring a refurbished San Franciscan Roaster, a centerpiece machine handmade in the US.
